From birthday parties to corporate functions, you can host an event that’s like no other at The Iowa Children’s Museum. Party room and full museum rentals are available to make your event memorable, easy to plan, and so much fun!
Rent a private space to gather within our unique learning playground.
Party room rentals are available for your birthday party, small group celebration, or meetings. This space is located on the second floor of the museum and provides a private space for you to gather.
Please note:
Rentals include exclusive access to the party room for 3 hours.
The party room measures approximately 18′ x 36′ and comfortably fits up to 25 people seated at tables.
Tables and chairs (kid and adult sizes) are provided.
You can lock the party room when not in use, making it an excellent “home base” to store your items when you’re ready to go play in our exhibits.
Sinks are available for guests use within the party room. Use of museum refrigerator/freezer during your rental may be possible; check with museum staff for more details.
We do not provide staff supervision during exhibit playtime. Children must be supervised in the museum at all times. We require 1 adult for every 5 children in your party to ensure the safety of everyone in our space.
You are welcome to decorate the space. Set-up and removal must occur within your rental time slot.
Online reservations are available for Saturdays & Sundays from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m. while the museum is open to the public.
Additional time slots may become available in the coming months. For all other party room availability, email parties@theicm.org.
$200 rental fee (3-hour rental) + the cost of admission for all guests
Museum admission is not included in the rental fee. The host family and all guests must pay museum admission ($10 for children and adults, $9 for seniors, free for infants under age 1). Museum admission can be paid at the front desk upon arrival or the party host can coordinate payment for all guests in advance.
Members: Take 10% off your party room rental and, as always, enjoy playtime in our exhibits free of charge!
A $100 cleaning fee will be billed for any food/drink spills in exhibits. We also reserve the right to charge a cleaning fee if the party room is not cleaned up after your use. Thank you in advance for being respectful of our space!

Outside food and drink are permitted in the party room only. We do not allow food or beverages on the museum floor. We reserve the right to charge a $100 cleaning fee for food/drink spilled outside the party room or if the party room is not cleaned up after your use. The ICM does not provide staff supervision. Children must be supervised in the museum at all times. There must be 1 adult for every 5 children in your party.
A cancellation notice is required at least 2 weeks from the reservation date. Events that have been cancelled 2+ weeks prior will receive a refund of 50% of base price paid. Parties that have been cancelled with less than 2 weeks notice will not receive a refund.
